Benefits of Digital Education for learners

In the learning and education industry, the year 2020 has brought about several significant changes. Students, learners, and professionals all over the world were completely reliant on their homes and computers to learn and educate themselves as a result of the lockdown.

E-learning systems were introduced to students and learners to improve their educational experience. Although e-learning has existed since the dawn of the internet, it has only recently come to light as a result of current digitalization and developments.

In effect, the government’s involvement in the digital revolution has prompted it to take important efforts to develop policies that would strengthen the digital education market. Efforts are being undertaken to improve the quality of digital infrastructure and to make it easier to use innovative teaching technologies.

Digital Education is thriving persistently and here are some of the reasons why:

  • Digital Credential:

IBM developed an online learning programme in 2014 to analyse the utility of Digital Badges, and within a few weeks, they had the following impressive results:

  • The enrolment rate for pupils was 129 percent
  • The percentage of students who completed the course was 226 percent
  • The number of students and learners clearing the course increased by 694 percent as compared to the initial six-week introduction of the learning programme

The fact that a digital credential includes metadata such as certification issue and expiration dates, issuer identification, skill attainment or knowledge acquisition criteria, and a digital signature is advantageous to both learners and potential recruiters. They are useful in teaching since they can be easily validated thanks to this metadata. They can also be shared on digital platforms for career advancement.

  • Unlimited Access:

Every piece of information obtained through the internet is a drop in the ocean. With just a few clicks, the Internet provides access to an infinite amount of information and knowledge.

Unlike the internet, where information is readily available, digital education gives students the opportunity to choose from a variety of courses that are combined with automated and new learning elements to improve the learning experience.

  • Learning Management Sytems:

Consider a learning management system as a piece of technology that can enhance learning by making it more efficient, cost-effective, and, most importantly, trackable.  The simplest LMS has a primary functioning platform that allows administrators to input course material, provide training to learners, send out notifications, and share data with authorised users.

The LMS offers personalised learning experiences, built-in analytics, and the ability for teachers and students to collaborate online. A strong LMS may help learners take a more active part in their own development by making learning interesting and engaging.

In Conclusion:

Students emerge out as independent thinkers who determine what and how to study, as a result of the digital education system.  Apart from that, the real-time evaluation through integrated tracking systems provides accurate assets and performance analytics.
